Lighthouse Seventeen Terms

Last updated: 4 September 2026

These terms govern your use of this website and, where relevant, my services. I may update them from time to time, so please check this page periodically for changes.

1. Use of this website

You must use this website lawfully. You must not use it to transmit harmful content, attempt to breach its security or cause disruption to the website or its users.

I reserve the right to restrict access where I reasonably believe a user’s behaviour presents a security, legal or operational concern.

2. Intellectual property

Unless otherwise stated, all content on this website—including its text, design and logos—belongs to Lighthouse Seventeen. You must not copy, modify, distribute or reuse it without prior written permission.

Once you have paid in full for an engagement, ownership of the specific documents, frameworks or reports created for you will transfer to you, subject to the terms agreed for that engagement.

I retain ownership of my general methods, templates, knowledge and ways of working, and may continue to use these with other clients.

3. Website content

I aim to keep this website accurate, current and useful, but I cannot guarantee that all information will always be complete, accurate or up to date.

The website’s content is provided for general information only. You should not rely on it as a substitute for advice tailored to your particular circumstances.

4. Links to other websites

This website may contain links to third-party websites that I believe may be useful. I do not control these websites and am not responsible for their content, availability, security or privacy practices.

5. Working with me

When you enquire about or engage me for work, I will confirm the scope, deliverables, timescales, fees and other relevant terms in writing—usually through a proposal or engagement letter.

An engagement will not be considered final until we have both agreed to its terms in writing, normally by email.

I reserve the right to decline work that does not fit my expertise, availability, capacity or way of working.

5.1 Approval and your responsibilities

I may ask you to approve key stages of the work, including recommendations, frameworks or documents, before I proceed.

You are responsible for reviewing these carefully. Changes requested after approval may require additional time and may incur additional costs. I will discuss and agree any such costs with you before completing the additional work.

5.2 Information you provide

I rely on the information you provide about yourself, your organisation and your requirements being accurate and complete.

I am not responsible for delays, errors or outcomes resulting from information that is incomplete, inaccurate or provided late.

6. Fees and payment

Fees and payment terms will be agreed with you in writing before work begins, usually as part of a proposal or engagement letter.

Unless otherwise agreed:

  • Invoices are payable within 28 days of the invoice date.

  • A deposit may be required before project work begins, with the remaining balance due on completion.

  • Retainer services are billed monthly in advance.

  • Retainer arrangements may be ended by giving 30 days’ written notice.

  • Late payments may incur interest at a rate of 10% per month on the outstanding balance.

7. Privacy and personal data

I only collect and use the personal information reasonably required to operate this website and deliver my services. This may include your name, contact details and information relating to your enquiry or project.

For more information about how I collect, use and protect personal data, please read the Lighthouse Seventeen Privacy Policy.

8. Limitation of liability

I take reasonable care to keep this website operating smoothly and its content accurate. However, I cannot guarantee that the website will always be available, secure or free from errors.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, I will not be responsible for losses arising solely from your use of, or reliance on, the general information provided through this website.

My advice and recommendations are based on the information you provide and my professional judgement at the time. You remain responsible for decisions about whether and how to implement that advice, and for the results of those decisions.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Scotland. Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.
